I loved playing Abobo’s Big Adventure. It was an incredible experience that tied a bunch of my favorite NES games together into an awesome brawler that had me laughing and having a great time. Having that much fun for zero dollars doesn’t seem fair, so when its creator, Nick Pasto, starts asking for money to Kickstart his newest game, Super Chibi Knight, I think I technically owe him some. I don’t have any problems tossing him some cash, though, since the game looks like some adorable fun.
It’s hard not to get a Castle Crashers feel from the artwork and enemy design, and that’s a good thing for me. The vibrant colors and large enemy designs all look great, and will go a long way to keeping the game fun and varied. On top of that, (from my understanding) there are a few different character classes that you can choose to enhance your original character, letting you cast spells, or far more interestingly, ride huge beasts. I used to love fighting my enemies on top of large creatures in games like Golden Axe, so I’m excited to see that kind of thing showing up in this game. The combat that ties it all together looks solid and responsive from the trailer as well, with some good old simple 2D hack and slashing action going on.
He’s already met his funding goal for the game so we’re all ready to rock and roll, but more levels and creatures are in store for players if he gets some extra funding. I’d like to see this game become all it can be, so if you like the look of it too, help the guy out. If you don’t know, go give Abobo’s Big Adventure a shot and tell me that he doesn’t know how to make a good action game. Go ahead and try.
