Let Your Drill Do the Talking in The Joylancer: Legendary Motor Knight

Tear through enemies and environments like a Big Daddy with a jet engine on its back in Alpha Six Productions' The Joylancer: Legendary Motor Knight.

I didn’t have a Genesis growing up, and the friend of mine that did must not have been liked all that much by his parents because he only had games like Ecco the Dolphin. Anyway, since I never had access to the system, I never got to try games like Rocket Knight Adventures. I didn’t get to experience the sheer joy of charging up an attack that would send me hurtling all over the screen, bouncing off of every surface and ripping through my enemies. Somehow, the kind people at Alpha Six Productions have taken pity on my situation without even knowing me, dropping a trailer for their amazing-looking game, The Joylancer: Legendary Motor Knight, into my lap.

There’s no crap in this trailer – just straight action that showcases your character and what she can do. Equipped with something called a Burst Arm, the main character, Joy Lantz, proceeds to fly all over the landscape with a mechanical drill leading the way, tearing through enemies and environments like a Big Daddy with a jet engine on its back. The Game Boy visuals somehow make all of this mayhem look great, and the shaking screen and loud sounds all drive home just how hard you’re slamming around the levels. It really captures the feel of being carried along by a rocket-fueled power tool, and looks so deliciously fast-paced and frantic that I can’t imagine not having a great time with it.

Pre-orders are on now for the game if you want to fund the kind of people who make sweet-looking games like this (you do), but there is also a shareware version up on the site for you to download now. Alpha Six Productions also intend to keep updating the shareware version, so no matter what, these guys want their game in your hands. Pretty nice people if you ask me. Personally, I’m gonna toss them the ten bucks for the pre-order edition. I need me some chaotic drilling action, and I’d only do something dumb with the money anyway.

Not that I’d buy Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2DLC with that money. I’m dumb, but I’m not an idiot.
