New Gameplay Trailer Released for Traverser

Gatling Goat Studio finally sheds some light on the gameplay of its mysterious game, Traverser, in its new trailer.

I loved the trailer for Gatling Goat Studio’s The Traverser back before I even knew what kind of game it was going to be. It had a neat aesthetic and intriguing storyline where oxygen was the most important commodity, and I just wanted to know more. Luckily, a new gameplay trailer has surfaced for the game to let me know what sort of thing I was going to be playing. Now, I’m even more pumped for this game.

It still doesn’t quite come out and expressly tell you what you’ll be doing, but it looks like we’ll definitely be solving puzzles when the game releases. It looks like you use some sort of glove or device to pick up objects in the environment using a strand of light, and you can then use those objects to solve puzzles. It kind of reminds me of the gravity power from Dead Space or the ray gun from Elebits in that regard, but in a top-down view. Looks like it could be fun, and since not all of those objects appear to be stationary, I think it could add a little challenge for your reflexes as well.

Tying that power into the stealth aspect seems like it could make the game pretty interesting. Hiding from enemies could be really cool if you were forced to build your own cover, so I’m wondering if that will be implemented. The trailer didn’t show all that much about what you would do once the enemies saw you, although it looks like you can put an object between you and the enemy to help you get away. I like the idea of having to throw things in the enemies’ path while you’re running, making it a bit more like a real-life chase in some neat ways.

And those enemies? The guys in the masks? I’m not letting one of those things catch me. The game still looks unique and creepy in that regard, and I am looking forward to seeing more.
