Hayssam Keilany, creator of the iCEnhancer mod for GTA IV, has called it quits. Hayssam’s reason for leaving his work behind (for now) is a hot button topic in the gaming community right now: online harassment. In a Facebook post, Hayssam talks a bit about some of the negative comments he’s received from the GTA IV community and other modders.
“Thanks to the people who downloaded and appreciated 3.0, glad you like it.
Now to other people as they seriously are making me pissed, and yeah, even If I ignore as much as I can, some of them are really pissing me off with their total non-sense and bullshit about 3.0. And i’m mostly talking about the GTA IV community, the modders, the ENB modders. As people are reporting to me, I didn’t give credits to some ? Boris? what the hell? ENBSeries is written in big at the beginning.
I used the same method to apply the depth as another ENB it seems and i’m called iceshit? That’s nice, guys. Way to contribute to the community. It’s like if the guy who created the godrays in shaders was like bitching at everyone because they all use the same method as him. Amazing.”
Of course with change comes those who hate it, and they have apparently been giving the mod’s creator gruff as well.
“To people who don’t really like 3.0 and think my previous versions are better. Go ahead and get the older versions or other ENBs, there are thousands, people are mostly doing their own tastes because no one has the same tastes anyway but 3.0 is my taste and I won’t change things just because one random guy is like : i want stars in my sky thx. when you can actually do it by yourself by just changing the INI or whatever you wanna do.
To people comparing this to V or Watch dogs.. seriously guys? 2008. Thanks. It’s like comparing GTA3 to GTA4.”
“So yep, that’s it. At every release it’s the same, since 1.2. People spitting on me, my work, everything I do just because people know me or whatever. that’s always nice -cough-. I spent days, weeks, months doing 3.0, released it because I thought people would like it and stuff. If you don’t then i’m sorry, but it’s how I like my GTA. I’m going to release the installer and downgrader then i’m done for a while.
Thanks to the people who supported me and stuff, you guys are cool. No thanks for the guys trying to bring me down constantly. You guys did it after 4 years, I give up on haters.
Have a nice day, and have fun on 3.0 if you like it.”
So that’s that. Hayssam may pick up development for the mod in the future, but for now the negativity he is receiving is too much for him. Unfortunately, the bulk of the community probably enjoys his work, but it’s always the negative element that is the most vocal — and that’s all you need to push out great talent sometimes.
