Jarret and Nick are back this week joined by Mike, formerly of Watchpoint Radio and Double Tap, to talk about this week’s gaming news. Mike talks about wanting to play some old games, and also mentions other people having renewed interest in Final Fantasy XIV since the Endwalker announcement. Nick, meanwhile, has been playing Smash Bros Melee with his kid and wonders about the value of unlocking content now before his kids can play the game, or waiting and leaving it for them to unlock when they are older. Jarret has been busy and is really just playing Cyberpunk 2077.

CD Projekt Red was hacked recently and in the process source code to various games including Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher III were stolen, as well as some hr, legal, and financial data. The information has supposedly been sold on the black market for $7 million. Jarret talks about how this could affect players. Mike speculates this could be bad for the upcoming multiplayer for Cyberpunk.

In other news, EA is supposedly deciding whether to end Anthem or fully support a revamp. Jarret talks about how there can only be two games in a given genre, and EA wants a Destiny-type loot shooter. The group debates how Bioware would need to allocate talent to be able to handle work on Anthem as well as production on Dragon Age and Mass Effect. Nick wonders about how monetization would work. Overall, they are pessimistic on Anthem’s chances of survival.

Twitch voters decided that KomodoHype should be the new PogChamp emote. This seems safe, but Nick and Jarret debate the friendliness of Komodo Dragons.

Ubisoft is considering a move away from AAA titles. The group talks about how publishers need to diversify to keep making money. Jarret thinks Ubisoft should buy some indie developers.

In Hollywood casting news, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey have been cast as Joel and Ellie in HBO’s The Last of Us. Mike isn’t happy with this but will watch anyway. Jack Black has been cast as Claptrap for the Borderlands movie. The group reviews prior casting news for Borderlands and Mike expects the movie to be disappointing.

Host of WoW! Talk! and The Tauren & The Goblin. Sometimes known as the Video Games Public Defender. Wants to play more Destiny and Marvel Heroes but WoW is all-consuming. Decent F2P Hearthstone player. Sad that he lost the Wii that had Wrecking Crew on it. Would be happy if the only game ever made was M.U.L.E. Gragtharr on Skywall-US. Garresque on Ravencrest-US.

Mikey has been playing fighting games since he could reach the arcade stick and buttons. While not be ever being tournament ready he strives to do better. Loves pure action games and enjoying bonkers jrpgs. He's just you're average gaymer.
