Sony has announced that the PS Vita will launch on February 22, 2012 in all of North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia. The announcement of the next-gen handheld’s launch date was made in San Francisco at the Web 2.0 Summit by SCEA’s President and CEO, Jack Tretton. As our readers have likely already heard, the base model will run $249.99 and the 3G variety will go for $299.99
Tretton stated that there are currently over 100 titles in development for the platform. Nothing else was mentioned in the way of news, with the CEO instead turning his attention to pumping up the launch by mentioning games and features that were previously announced. Gamers worldwide will be getting their hands on the device just over two months after Sony releases it in its native Japan on December 17 of this year.
