Nintendo Dropping Prices of DSi and DSi XL

Nintendo will be dropping the prices of the DSi and DSi XL reports Toms Hardware.  The DSi Lite will stay at its current price of $129.99, but the DSi will become $149.99 and the DSi XL will drop to $169.99.  It seems these price changes will take place very soon.  As in within the next few weeks.

It is possible these price changes are going into effect because of the back-to-school season to get people to pick them up before heading back.

According to Toms Hardware – Nintendo had this to say:

“We know shoppers want to get the maximum value out of every dollar they spend,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing.

“Our new Nintendo DSi prices make it easier than ever for consumers to access the tremendous variety of games, applications and social tools on the Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DSi XL systems.”

Looks like these prices might even stick all the way to the end of the year, which would be good for the entrance of the 3DS next year.  The holiday season could also bring forth more sales of these cheaper devices by Nintendo.
