Bethesda announced a nice little surprise on its official blog today for those looking forward to Brink . The shooter has been bumped up from May 17th in North America (NA) and May 20th in Europe to May 10th and May 13th respectively. According to Bethesda, the move is simply the result of development concluding earlier than expected. “Production wrapped on Brink earlier than we planned and we didn’t see any reason to keep gamers from getting their hands on this highly anticipated game as soon as it was ready” said VP of PR and Marketing Pete Hines.
Although there was no mention of it, it’s also likely that getting out of the way of Rockstar Games’ L.A. Noire (also releasing on May 17th in NA and May 20th in Europe) played into the equation. All signs point to Noire dominating the retail scene when it releases, so it wouldn’t be surprising if other publishers intentionally moved their releases out of that week in an attempt to maximize sales of their own products. This would hardly be a new concept, as publishers employed a similar strategy this past holiday season in the face of the sales juggernaut that is Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Splash Damage’s Brink will be available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC upon its release.
