Resident Evil, Street Fighter, and Dead Rising. What do all of these titles have in common? Their publisher Capcom and todays E3 showcase which brought us some new information on these upcoming games as well as a few other showstoppers we didn’t even think of!
Ever play a game by the name of Devil May Cry? I have. I loved how it combined several of the things I like in life; which are firearms, broadswords, and trance/techno music into one game. Well, a few of the minds behind Resident Evil 4, Devil May Cry 3 and Devil May Cry 4 have brought you their next title called Dragon’s Dogma. Your job is basically take a party of three characters across a very beautifully designed world where you can freely move and interact with most of it and find a mysterious dragon to destroy. Along the way you’ll come across large griffons, even larger beasts and dragons to name a few. Speaking of Resident Evil…
Capcom made their announcement for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City which brings the series back around to the year 1998. A special Umbrella strike team has been sent into Raccoon City to battle the survivors which just happen to be Leon Kennedy, Raccoon City police officers, US Spec Ops soldiers and the many bio weapons in the city. Their goal is to make sure any traces of Umbrella are wiped out and through the course of the game we’ll see their attitudes change while they slowly begin to turn on their own team members in this four player co-op title that will be out for the XBox 360, Playstation 3 and PC this winter.
On the non-console side there is a new game dropping for the Nintendo 3DS titled, Resident Evil: Revelations. The setting for this round of Resident Evil games puts Jill Valentine and her new partner Parker Luciani on a supposedly deserted cruise ship. While Jill is there searching for her brother, you’ll find for the first time in the RE series you’ll be allowed to swim to get away from the many creatures that inhabit the boat. Taking place between Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, there is currently no release date set yet for this game.

Keeping in line with zombies and creatures that go bump in the night Capcom announced the release of Dead Rising 2: Off The Record. Dead Rising 2: Off The Record is more of a re-imagining of the game and puts our would be sort of hero Frank West back into zombie killing action within Fortune City. There are all new combos, deadly enemies, bosses and a brand new theme park within the game called Uranus Zone! Sounds great, right?! Expect this new zombie killing title to drop for the XBox 360, Playstation 3 and PC this fall.
One of the next games that was announced was Asura’s Wrath. Asura’s rage bar within the game increases during each fight and even large enemies will see what his wrath is like when he unleashes it. More traditional lines of gameplay and cinematics will be blurred while being controlled by the player. There hasn’t been too much media coverage for the game at the moment, but from the trailer you’ll see Asura pulling off some pretty impressive moves against his foes. Asura’s Wrath will drop for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 sometime in 2012.
Lastly Capcom announced two new Street Fighter titles. The first one is called Street Fighter X Tekken. E3 attendees were some of the first players to get a hands on look at the newest fighting game incorporating the engine from Street Fighter IV for both sides of gamers. Expect your favorite characters from Tekken like Hwoarang, Julia, Cammy, and Sagat. New gameplay mechanics and the team who brought you Super Street Fighter IV will have this game dropping by 2012 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
The next Street Fighter title released was Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edtion. This title will feature the series defining parry system, seamless arcade style high definition graphics and a hefty amount of unlockables to encourage replay value. With the leader board system encouraging players to be at the top of their game, expect this title to drop sometime this year on the Playstation Network and XBox Arcade.
