Microsoft not yet on Board for Alan Wake: Night Springs

...but they'd like to be.

Last month, a rumor surfaced that Remedy’s next Alan Wake title would be an XBLA game called Alan Wake: Night Springs. We expected to see it at E3 in some form, but it was not to be. The team over at Joystiq took it upon themselves to question Microsoft about its absence.

They spoke with Microsoft Studios’ Phil Spencer, who said that he was aware of the project. However, it would seem that they are not currently set to publish it. “I don’t know that they’ve signed it with anybody”, said Spencer. Although he admitted that sales of the first game were not in line with their projections, he went on to say: “I’d love to work with Remedy again”. Furthermore, he mentioned that they “have ongoing conversations with them.”

So, for now at least, Remedy is tackling the game all on their own. “They wanted to incubate internally. Like I said, I don’t think they’ve signed it with anybody.” Despite the original not becoming a critical blockbuster, I doubt that Remedy will have too much trouble finding a publishing partner for their arcade Wake. Whether or not it will be Microsoft, remains to be seen.
