Ocarina of Time 3D Soundtrack Bonus Extended to Midnight

Club Nintendo has pushed back the deadline for buyers to register for the giveaway. Shipments will begin on July 5th.

Nintendo announced a few weeks back that early purchasers of Grezzo’s The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D could register the game on Club Nintendo to recieve a free soundtrack. The disc includes fifty tracks from the game, as well as an exclusive orchestrated medley. In order to get your hands on one all you had to do was be one of the first to fill out a survey on Nintendo’s web site. Trouble is, when the game launched yesterday, things didn’t exactly go so smoothly for many Club Nintendo members (myself included).

I was waiting out front of my local GameStop to get the game the second the store opened, and then promptly ran home and filled out the registration survey. This was supposed to be followed up by a screen that asked you to confirm the soundtrack reward. I never got that screen, and I wasn’t alone. With the words “limited quantities” being branded right into the promo page, Zelda fans started to panic.

Like many of you probably did, I fired off a quick e-mail to Nintendo’s customer service department about the issue. No one who did heard anything back until today, however. Although Nintendo’s site now says that the offer has been extended to tonight at 12:00 AM PST, The guys over at Joystiq, for example, report that they still haven’t gotten an e-mail confirmation from Nintendo in regards to their order(s). To my relief, I did receive a response this afternoon that contained the following text:

I’m sorry to hear that you had technical issues when trying to place your order for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Soundtrack CD.

Using the information you provided, I was able to locate your Club Nintendo account. I see that you qualify for this promotion, so I have taken the liberty of placing an order for the soundtrack CD (it will be sent to the address on your account).

The next time you login to your account, you can click “Reward Order Inquiry” on your Club Nintendo homepage to view your order status (please allow 30 minutes for this order to appear in your Club Nintendo account).

We will begin shipping the soundtrack CD the week of July 5. Please allow 1-2 weeks from the ship date for delivery.

So if you registered for game and have yet to hear back from the publisher, you can probably relax a little. If you’re still worried, though, I suggest you reach out to Nintendo. And if you haven’t registered yet, you better do so before the day is out. Nintendo initially botched this thing pretty badly, but it’s good to see that they are amiably responding to concerns and remedying the problem.
