THQ Sends Homefront Devs Home

Kaos Studios is no more, and THQ Digital Warrington is living out its final days.

THQ has announced its plans to close down two of its internal studios.  New York-based Kaos Studios has already been closed down and THQ’s UK development house, Digital Warrington, has been notified that it too will be shut down shortly.  UK law prevents the publisher from laying the employees off immediately, and instead requires a notification 60 days in advance.   The justification given for the studio moves was that they serve as part of “a strategic realignment within [THQ’s] internal studio structure”.

KAOS’ Homefront franchise will henceforth be handled by THQ’s Montreal team.  The group there is said to have “actively collaborated” on the FPS with KAOS.  Former employees of the two studios will be given the opportunity to interview for open positions at the Montreal location.  MTB’s sympathies go out to the former developers and their families.
