Cave Story 3D Gets Pushed Back to November

The game you probably already beat four times (and still love) will have to wait.

Cave Story 3D

Sometimes I wonder why publishers choose to release their games alongside massive releases.  I proposed the same question to myself last year when Sega chose to release their RPG Resonance of Fate right alongside Final Fantasy XIII, essentially leaving that game in the shadow of a colossus (no relation to Team Ico).  While I’m still befuddled by that decision, I sure hope that history does not repeat itself in this next case. NIS America has chosen to push their upcoming 3DS remake of Cave Story, aptly named Cave Story 3D, back from their August 9th release date.  To when you ask? Oh, November 8th, of course.  Yes, that is the same day Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 comes out.

The reason for the delay, NIS America states, is to make further gameplay improvements and refinements to the title before its release.  I suppose they also figured that it wouldn’t hurt to have it come out during the holidays rather than the dead of summer. At least Cave Story 3D is about as far from a game like Modern Warfare 3 that you can get,  but I’m still concerned enough to truly hope that it doesn’t end up being overlooked once it’s sitting on store shelves.
