Well, it’s the end of an era… That only lasted one year. Major Nelson’s blog confirms that Microsoft is no longer putting a gloss finish on the XBox 360 S models and actively transitioning them to matte finish. Very soon there will be no regularly available option for a gloss finish XBox 360. The good Major says there may be gloss finish available on limited edition XBox 360’s in the future, but doesn’t make any guarantees.
While I personally file this as unimportant (mainly because if my 360 was pink, bedazzeled, and covered in rainbows I’d still play it), I can see why some may really want that glossy finish. Actually, the only reason I can think of is to match other items in your entertainment center. Any-who, for those that want that glossy finish, your time is running out. Better get a move on.
