The Old Republic Will be Region Free

BioWare's MMORPG will be playable by importers around the world.

Gamers over in Australia have been distraught over the announcement that BioWare’s Star Wars: The Old Republic would not be releasing in their country at the same time as it will in other markets around the world.  As it turns out, they’ll still be able to get in on the MMO early on despite a delayed Australian launch.

BioWare has announced that TOR will be region free and the company will not IP block anyone who attempts to access the servers.  This is great news for anyone living where the game is not scheduled to release during the “global” launch.  Now all the Aussies and other unfortunate souls need to do is import a copy of The Old Republic to get in on the action.  Those who do so can expect some latency issues, but that will certainly be better than not playing at all.
