Starbreeze is a Swedish studio known for The Darkness and The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. As their next game, Syndicate, releases in a few weeks time, they are already moving on to the next job. They have teamed up with independent Lebanese-Swedish director, Josef Fares. Fares has completed a handful of comedies that seem to be on the B movie level, and two dramas that cover the effects of violence on the victims, and a boy that is separated from his family during the civil war.

They will also be working in hand with The Story Lab, a Swedish design company that specializes in strategic communications, business, entertainment and game design. Their website is sexy and they say that their purpose is “to create strong stories that achieves long-term behavioral and attitudinal changes.” Starbreeze was captivated by Fares and Story Lab’s pitch, minutes in, and started the early development stages that same day. Fares loves games, Story Lab loves to create passionately, and Starbreeze makes games; I’m excited to see what this team will be able to put together.
