Grand Theft Auto V Returns to Los Santos, Has Multiplayer

Who wants to break into Jay Leno's garage?

“But MTB, we already knew that Grand Theft Auto V was set in Cali; we watched the trailer you just linked to when it debuted yesterday.” Yeah, yeah, we hear you. However, we now have an official statement from Rockstar Games explaining that the game takes place in the fictional city of Los Santos of GTA: San Andreas fame.

Grand Theft Auto V heads to the city of Los Santos and surrounding hills, countryside and beaches in the largest and most ambitious game Rockstar has yet created,” reads the publisher’s statement. Of course, the footage we saw in the trailer looked uncannily similar to GTA IV, so we’re still waiting to see how they plan on coming through on the ambition front.

Nevertheless, Rockstar went on to describe the game as a “new direction in open-world freedom.” The sandbox game’s narrative will zero in “on the pursuit of the almighty dollar in a re-imagined, present-day Southern California.”

Don’t worry, they also released on piece of legitimate news in regards to the sequel: online multiplayer is making a return. No further details were revealed, which means we don’t yet know what when the game will release or what platforms it will be developed for.
