Mega Man X Comes to iPhone; Mega Man Vets ROFL and Cry Simultaneously

*Sob*

There used to be an embeded media player here, but it doesn't work anymore. We blame the Tumbeasts.

Behold…your beloved Mega Man X (MMX), stripped down to nothing. As a Mega Man fan this really hurts. It hurts that Capcom would think it was acceptable to call this a remake of Mega Man X. A shoddy frame rate, terrible screen transitions, and a unbelievably dumbed down intro stage are just a few reasons why this software should not bear the name Mega Man. With the capabilities of the iPhone, there is really only one reason I can think of that they would strip so much from Mega Man X: buttons. Or a lack there of, I should say.

It’s not secret that touchscreen controls are no substitute for a controller when it comes to responsiveness and general control. If they did port the original Mega Man X over to the iPhone, Apple would have had an influx of calls regarding broken screens due to the immense frustration the users would have been feeling. Aren’t these mobile platforms supposed to be the end of dedicated gaming handhelds? I won’t be holding my breath on that one.

If you’re not familiar with the original Mega Man X, watch the video below. All should be made clear.  The MMX portion starts at 5:30ish.
