Not too long ago we were finally able to see the target game play for Rainbow 6 Patriots. For those who didn’t see the video, it boasted an impressive storyline from multiple perspectives, tough moral decision making, and some welcome tweaks to the already fantastic RB6 game play. As impressed as myself and many other fans were, it looks like Ubisoft is shaking things up a bit.
Reports are indicating that Ubisoft Montreal has restructured the development team by removing David Sears (Creative Director) and Richard Rouse III (Narrative Director) from the project. This leaves me with one question. Why? I’ve been a Rainbow 6 fan for a long time, and this is the most excited I’ve seen the community in a while. So what possibly could have happened in development that caused Ubisoft to do this?
This frightens me a bit because I was really interested in the way things were going. The story plot involving domestic terrorism due to the current financial crisis really had me intrigued. Who knows if they are even going to continue with this plot. Only time will tell, but if the game doesn’t turn out that great, guess where I’ll be pointing.
