Microsoft Purchases Bethesda, Sony Prices the PS5, and Amazon's Lunacy
Microsoft buys Bethesda while Sony finally reveals the PS5 price and Amazon is getting into cloud gaming....
Jarret and Nick are here to talk all about what’s been going on in the gaming world this week! First, Nick talks about how he put an SSD drive into his computer and convinced himself that his graphics look better. Jarret laments that he’s been too busy to play games this week.
The big news of the week is that the XBox Series X and Series S prices and release date have been announced. They talk about the differences in power between the two consoles. In particular, they talk about the resolution differences and how that could impact the markets they are intended for. They also talk about the storage differences, and Nick wonders about the viability of storing your games with relatively little storage on the Series S. They wonder about Sony’s response and how Microsoft has seemingly managed to outplay Sony at this point. They look at the value of the XBox Gamespass, and how for $35 / month you can subsidize your console purchase. Jarret outdoes the Microsoft marketing team by pointing out that the value sells itself. They also mention that EA Play is available as part of Gamespass.
They then talk about the Ubisoft Forward September event. They discuss Immortals Fenyx Rising which appears to be similar to a God of War and Breath of the Wild mashup. Jarret brings up the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake and talks about how the voice actor for the Prince sitll sounds the same after all these years. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Complete Edition was announced, and that should be exciting for fans who lost access to that game all those years ago. Watchdogs: Legion is going to have gameplay where you can recruit anyone, but anyone can have flaws that make them not worth recruiting. Aidan Pierce is back with his Iconic Generic appearance. Rainbox Six Siege has Sam Fisher training some recruits. There will also be a Rainbox Six Siege World Cup. Hyperscape is coming for Apex Legends and Fortnite and will have a limited time Turbo-Mode available. Finally, Riders Republic is an MMO Sandbox all about extreme sports.
Next, Jarret gets into the recent problem Remedy had where the Control Ultimate Edition was made available to owners of the current edition of Contorl on the PS4 and Xbox One X despite being told that they could not upgrade those versions.
Jarret also talks about his excitement for the upcoming Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity game.
Finally, Jarret looks at the recent complaints about Apple by Microsoft after Apple updated their rules for cloud services to require they rate and list each available game separately in the app store.

Host of WoW! Talk! and The Tauren & The Goblin. Sometimes known as the Video Games Public Defender. Wants to play more Destiny and Marvel Heroes but WoW is all-consuming. Decent F2P Hearthstone player. Sad that he lost the Wii that had Wrecking Crew on it. Would be happy if the only game ever made was M.U.L.E. Gragtharr on Skywall-US. Garresque on Ravencrest-US.
