On Episode 29, Ramses and LoBosco are joined by Contenders Caster and Overwatch personality Boop to discuss this week’s massive news haul, and to cover the upcoming Contenders 2019 Gauntlet. We start by talking with Boop about his personal history with video games and with esports as a whole. We talk about his background in fighting games, and his eventual introduction to shoutcasting. We go on to further discuss his personal history with Overwatch, his work with Contenders NA and more, and his favorite moments from his casting career.
Next, we discuss the beginning of free agency and its wide effect on league rosters. We provide a brief overview of free agency terms, and go through a team by team list of Season 3 contract statuses. We talk about each team’s free agents, and give our predictions on their contract status come Season 3. We also discuss the London Spitfire’s recent release of Birdring, Guard, and Nus, and talk about their potential futures in OWL Season 3.
We talk about the upcoming Contenders 2019 Gauntlet, the biggest Tier 2 Overwatch Tournament since Contenders Season 0. We talk about how the event relates to division history, and its inherited legacy as an international competition. We break down the individual teams and brackets, discussing notable strengths and weaknesses across each team. We also talk about the bracket structure, and give our elementary predictions for the finals matchup. We also give our predictions for the Gauntlet winner, and highlight some particular players we expect to join Overwatch League in Season 3.
