On this week’s show, we’re joined by Nekkra, shoutcaster extraordinaire with Contenders, Tespa, and more! We discuss the Toronto Defiant’s recent promotion of Gods and Sharyk from Montreal Rebellion to the OWL roster, as well as the league trend of premier backup signings. We also cover the recent OWL International Store launch, as well as more merch frustrations with Fanatics, who have earned this week’s F’s in the Chat.
Next, we cover recent Meta developments in Contenders, specifically with regards to 2-2-2 comps taking the air out of GOATS. We also look at a possibly forthcoming Bunker meta, and discuss the recent victories of its premier champions, Clockwork Vendetta. We also cover the recent PTR patch notes, most notably changes to Assault and the introduction of the Replay System. We also pay respects to recently released NA Academy teams and speculate on their role in the broader competitive Overwatch Scene.
Lastly, we take a look at some of the broader events in current esports, most notably, recent contract drama between esports org Faze Clan and signed their signed Fortnite streamer Tfue. We discuss the broader implications of oppressive contracts and player freedom on esports at large, and how this could specifically affect OWL players and teams. We also look at the current struggle for female representation in esports, and discuss events changing the scene for the better.
