Jarret and Nick are back to talk about the latest gaming news! But first, Nick talks about dealing with showing his four year old the part of Shadow of the Colossus where Agro falls into the ravine. Jarret laughs at him and cites all the terrifying movies he watched as a child. Jarret then mentions he’s looking forward to playing the Falconeer this week on Game Pass.

Bioware announced on N7 Day (November 7th) that the Mass Effect trilogy was getting a remake with high quality textures. Jarret and Nick talk about what qualifies as a remake and discuss how Final Fantasy VII has changed our perceptions of what that should entail.

Sony announced they will not be selling any PS5’s at physical locations. When the console launches, you will be able to order them from stores online, but you cannot buy one in person. You will be able to claim any pre-orders already placed, however. Sony claims this is because of the pandemic and they don’t want people to line up, but Jarret suspects this is to mask supply issues.

Ubisoft has removed a podcaster from Watchdogs: Legion after they discovered she had made some anti-trans comments in the past. Nick wonders if Ubisoft did this after watching the blowback that Hogwart’s Legacy received for Warner Bros.

Microsoft is removing P2P connections for party chat after it was discovered that people could get your IP address and DDOS your connection. Jarret goes into detail about why P2P connections were a bad idea. Nick points out that your credit card and account information were unaffected by this attack.

Square Enix lost $48 million from the release of Avengers. Jarret and Nick consider why it can be hard for a live-service game to gain a footing. Jarret believes the market is near saturation, while Nick talks about the sense of identity some games can use to keep you returning.

Take Two is negotiating to purchase Codemasters. Jarret wants this as it could lead to a new Midnight Club game.

Jarret Redding

Jarret is Executive Director as well as one of the founding members of Mash Those Buttons. He plays all types of games, but tends to lean more toward FPS, Stealth, and Combat games.

Nick Zielenkievicz

Host of WoW! Talk! and The Tauren & The Goblin. Sometimes known as the Video Games Public Defender. Wants to play more Destiny and Marvel Heroes but WoW is all-consuming. Decent F2P Hearthstone player. Sad that he lost the Wii that had Wrecking Crew on it. Would be happy if the only game ever made was M.U.L.E. Gragtharr on Skywall-US. Garresque on Ravencrest-US.
