Nick and Katie are back with a whole new animated short to talk about! This time, we learn about Draka’s experiences serving in Maldraxxus. But first Katie and Nick try to list notable orc women. Then, the duo review Draka’s life. Draka was born weak and set out on a quest to get ingredients for a potion to cure her, but it turns out the quest itself did the job. Then she meets Durotan and they get married and have a kid. They are exiled to Alteract Valley and Nick shares the two versions of their meeting with Orgrim and the ensuing ambush, as detailed in Lord of the Clans and Chronicle Volume II. Draka is killed in the ambush but Nick focuses on the particularly tragic death of Durotan.

The pair then discuss the cinematic. They talk about Draka becoming a rogue in the afterlife. They consider why the other denizens of Maldraxxus are all skeletons, and wonder about the purpose of existence. They talk about the shot of the two felguards and how it was cribbed from Harbingers: Illidan, and look at what that could mean, assuming Blizzard wasn’t just blindly reusing assets (although Nick points out that they reuse assets in the game all the time.) They talk about what the implications are that the Legion is in the Shadowlands, unless Draka is free to leave the Shadowlands, which also has massive implications, and wonder about the flow of power between the various realms. Finally, Nick considers if Draka’s soul was split like Uther’s, but because of her existence on Alternate Draenor.

Hosts

Nick Zielenkievicz

Host of WoW! Talk! and The Tauren & The Goblin. Sometimes known as the Video Games Public Defender. Wants to play more Destiny and Marvel Heroes but WoW is all-consuming. Decent F2P Hearthstone player. Sad that he lost the Wii that had Wrecking Crew on it. Would be happy if the only game ever made was M.U.L.E. Gragtharr on Skywall-US. Garresque on Ravencrest-US.

Katie Grace

Katie is a long time gamer who has fallen in love with multiple genres. She started young by playing Nintendo 64, Spyro, and Blizzard games such as Warcraft II with family, then eventually moved into playing games in both my leisure time and as a occupation. She loves being immersed in different universes and exploring the characters that live in them, as well as just playing games for a good time.
