On to 2019!
The gang looks back to patch 6.1 to diagnose WoW going into 2019!...
It’s the return of the Patch Quiz to help make sure everyone is up to speed on what is coming in Patch 8.1!!! But first, Rei, Eric, and Harv talk about some of the achievements they have been unlocking and the mounts that go with them. They talk about one of their guildies with a young kid, and this prompts Nick on a long rant about toddlers, followed by a comparison to how coparenting a toddler is like tanking (and offtanking) a raid boss. Finally, Nick gets back on topic and talks about leveling his alliance hunter to 119 and playing through Drustvar. He’s enjoying the story and mentions an NPC he found who sings the Kobolds & Catacombs theme song, and shares some of the questions this raises.
The gang then gets into the Patch 8.1 quiz along with some members of the chat room, including Frazley of the Frazlcast, on which Nick was a guest this week. Through the quiz, they talk about the coming Pet Dungeon. They also discuss which races are getting Heritage Armor and the requirements to get it. The mention the release date for the Battle of Dazar’Alor. There are new islands in Island Expeditions that they reference. They also go over some of the loot changes to Island Expeditions that are coming in the patch. Faction Assaults are considered, as well as any new Allied Races and the status of the Warfronts. Finally, Nick brings up the Leveling Experience nerfs. Play along at home to see if you can beat the gang!
After the quiz, Nick reviews the Island Expedition loot changes one more time, and then brings up a reddit post about not wanting to play other games. Nick compares it to someone hung up on a girl that broke up with them, and establishes that its okay to walk away. Harv talks about playing Eve Online a little. Nick mentions that he watched Star Wars Galaxies die, and Blizzard’s mistakes with Battle for Azeroth are nothing like that. Rei and Harv establish that as long as they are playing with friends, they will be fine.
Finally, Nick looks back at episode #21, which was the first mention of the SELFIE camera. They also talk about the Mystic Runesaber and the demise of WoW Insider.
