Microsoft Unveils R2D2 and C-3PO Xbox 360 Kinect Bundle

These actually ARE the droids you're looking for.

“I never doubted him for a second! Wonderful!” Threepio wasn’t referring to the chances of Microsoft bringing out a Star Wars droids-themed Xbox 360 Kinect bundle with that line on Bespin, but he might as well have been. Not only does the console have an Artoo skin, but it actually makes his signature beeps, bloops, blips and possibly even bleeps (maybe not that last one). It also comes complete with a 360 pad that is styled after ol’ Goldenrod and and all white Kinect unit. So it’s official then: no one will ever be impressed by a mere R2D2 Droid phone ever again. The only downside to the bundle, is that it will also pawn off Star Wars Kinect and Kinect Adventures on buyers.

Microsoft revealed the $449 320 GB unit at Comic-Con today and announced that pre-orders would begin… now. Seriously, they’ll start sometime today. No release date was provided, but it seems likely that it will come out alongside Star Wars Kinect durign Q4 of this year.

You guys are on your own for the rest of the day, because I’m going to go get in line now at a retailer far, far away around the corner.
