Diablo III Sets PC Game Launch Record

May 23, 2012

 Diablo III

Blizzard recently released some information about the sales record for the day one launch for Diablo III. Lets just say that Blizzard has a lot of people wrapped up in their world. They claimed that 3.5 million people bought Diablo III on day 1. That is a lot of people clicking angrily, killing everything in sight in the name of finding a better helmet for their character. That is so many people that Diablo III set the new all time fastest-selling PC game record.

The funny part is that the 3.5 million players that bought the game day one did not count the few players that got the game because of the World of Warcraft annual subscription that got you the game for free. If we add that number into the mix, the total number of players goes too 4.7 million players. Mike Morhaime,CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment, had this to say about their achievement

We’re definitely thrilled that so many people around the world were excited to pick up their copy of Diablo III and jump in the moment it went live. We also regret that our preparations were not enough to ensure everyone had a seamless experience when they did so. I want to reaffirm our commitment to make sure the millions of Diablo III players out there have a great experience with the game moving forward, and I also want to thank them for their ongoing support

If you haven’t played Diablo III you should definitely go check it out. The game is a blast, and honestly I can’t wait to go back and start playing more.  Also check out our review for Diablo III written by .
