Summer Showdown (NA Recap)
What a weekend of incredible Overwatch! We're back with our NA tournament recap, looking at the player performances and key moments of each match. Available everywhere now! #OWL2020...
We start with a brief breakdown of the current meta as Genji’s buffs push him to a strong presence in league play. We discuss the shift from a traditional “dive” composition to a more “poke” based format, as teams focus on securing initial picks. Lastly, we break down the differences in playstyle between the North American and Asian regions, and discuss how they affect hero picks.
Next we give a recap of this week’s games as teams secure their standings in the Summer Showdown tournament. We recap our favorite matches, and highlight impressive player moments such as Haksal’s return to Brigitte. We also cover slight comebacks from the Dallas Fuel and the Atlanta Reign, as well as the Washington Justice and Vancouver Titans sneaking their way into the tournament.
Lastly, we give a brief preview of the Summer Showdown tournament and make our way through each bracket’s knockout rounds. We speculate on potential runs by certain teams, and give our predictions for finals matchups in each region.
