Wrong All Night
This week, @Ramses_OW and @LoBosco are talking Breakable Barriers, Contenders changes, signings and more as the year wraps up! Plus we talk retirements and share some exciting news from a listener!...
This week, we’re joined by Blevins of the High Noon Podcast, Little Legends, Runeterrable Radio, and more to discuss all of this week’s player storylines and major news. We begin by recapping this week’s signing announcements, including pickups from the Paris Eternal, NYXL, and LA Gladiators. We discuss each signee’s journey to or through the Overwatch League, and speculate what we can expect to see from them in 2020.
We also delve deep into the recent changes announced by Fusion University and Gladiators Legion, as the status of North American Contenders continues to be uncertain. We compare the current state of Tier 2 to the environment faced by many minor league sports teams, and theorize what OWL teams actually stand to gain by fielding an Academy team. We discuss what needs to change to make the Path to Pro sustainable, and drop some F’s in the Chat for some poorly timed Christmas Gifts from Blizzard to several Overwatch streamers.
Lastly, we discuss some recent news regarding a “leak” of the Patch 1.43 drop date, followed by the actual date announcement straight from Jeff Kaplan. We also discuss the recent retirement announcements of Pine (NYXL) and Jake (Houston Outlaws), and discuss their possible reasons for retirement, along with their future careers.
