On this long awaited bonus episode, we sit down to talk with our good friend Tormented by Gnomes, a D&D content creator and former Overwatch League Observer. We learn all about his history with gaming, and how his love for Overwatch grew into tournament organizing, playing, and casting with the Overwatch University League. He has an awesome journey through the wild times of Pre-OWL Competitive Overwatch that we can’t wait for you to hear.

We follow Gnomes’ pre-OWL experience to his joining with the Overwatch League observing team in Season 1. We learn all about his starting role as the “Instant Replay Guy”, how the team evolved from Seasons 1 to 2, and the unique challenges of covering GOATS meta vs Dive. We also get some unique insight into the flow of Tier 2 talent into the observing team, and how their contributions have boosted the team since.

From here, we learn about OWL Season 3, including Gnomes’ experience observing at Homestand and Grand Finals events. we learn about the mountainous challenge of observing completely online, and how the team has overcome significant obstacles to maintain a high quality experience. Gnomes also sheds light on how the observing team learns to catch high impact plays that build match narrative and make mermorable moments.
