On this week’s episode, we’re joined by English caster and esports personality. We begin the show by learning more about his entrance into casting through PS4 pickup games, the importance of performance in casting, and the difficulties of casting alongside a stuffed sloth. We hear about his favorite moments and events that he’s been a part of, and what makes Overwatch such a special game to cast. We also update listeners on the new dates for the Mash Those Buttons Throwdown, which will be taking place this Wednesday, March 25th at 7pm Central. Come watch us square up against Dropping Spicy, talk trash, and more all at twitch.tv/mashthosebuttons.
Next, we give a brief recap of this week’s news, including ATL Academy’s hiatus from Contenders and the sudden cancellation of this weekend’s scheduled OWL games. We talk about the unfortunate reasons behind the cancellations, as well as the replacement showmatches featuring new hero Echo. We discuss our brief glimpse of some of the league’s top players on the brand new hero, and talk about OWL’s plan for the future as the United States heads towards likely lockdowns.
Here we talk about the jam packed Week 8 schedule, as Overwatch League features 16 games this coming weekend, March 28th and 29th. We talk about the huge workload that the casting and production teams will need to tackle, and celebrate our hopeful first look at the league’s Chinese squads. We go on to highlight our most anticipated matchups, and talk about which players and teams we are most excited to see.
Lastly, we give our brief thoughts on the new hero Echo and her potential impact on Overwatch League play. We talk about what sorts of metas and lineups we are likely to see and point out which players we hope to see wield her in future matches.
