The Meta is not Gospel
The pro-meta isn't for everyone. Don't force it....
Even though it was leaked a bit early (just like everything else these days), the Halloween event is live in Overwatch. Heroes will enjoy new skins, emotes, highlight intros, a new brawl, and more. The brawl may be more than meets the eye, however, as this may just be a prototype for something Blizzard is cooking up. In the most recent developer update, Jeff Kaplan tells us that they are working on new map and game mode prototypes; perhaps this is a preview of things to come. In that same developer update we got some information on the changes coming to Symmetra, which was a bit concerning, because it definitely sounds like Blizzard isn’t sure what to do with her. Just a thought, maybe do nothing.
We also discuss Jarret’s findings regarding competitive matchmaking. While many factors contribute to the current state of competitive mode, we are going to imagine for about 10 minutes that placement matches and SR gain/loss is working perfectly. Taking that into consideration, we still found a surprising flaw in the system, but we’re not sure if Blizzard is ready to do what it takes to fix it. We also dig into patch notes and a very promising Sombra leak, as well as our normal shenanigans on this episode of Watchpoint Radio.
