EA Shows off Game Play Footage of Battlefield 3

A new video, approximately three minutes in length, drops viewers into a middle-eastern combat zone of EA’s Battlefield 3. The FPS is due out this fall and is a direct sequel to 2005’s Battlefield 2. DICE is debuting their Frostbite 2.0 engine with this game and the results are astounding. The character animations are some of the most realistic I have ever seen in a game.

The video opens with some text about a 2014 Iran/Iraq conflict that is followed by soldiers jumping out of an APC and bitching about this section of the world being constantly embroiled in conflict. Considering all of the chaos that has been recently unfolding in the region, the scene really hits close to home. After a mission briefing, the squadron sprints toward the objective while showing off the impressive new animations. The soldiers come under some heavy enemy gun fire in a city square and return the favor with some grenades and assault rifle bullets. It all wraps up with an RPG explosion that sends the player’s character flying through the air.

Gamers excited to see more footage of this gorgeous game in action won’t have to wait long. Part II of this multi-part ‘Fault Line’ series is coming March 16th. Check out the video below and let us know what you think of Battlefield 3 in motion.

There used to be an embeded media player here, but it doesn't work anymore. We blame the Tumbeasts.
