Diablo III Delayed into Early 2012

Blizzard's hack-'n-slash RPG won't make it out this year.

To the surprise of no one, Diablo III has been delayed into early next year. “With every game we make, the temptation is always very strong to launch as soon as possible,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO of Blizzard Entertainment. “However, we didn’t put so many years of work into Diablo III to release a game that was almost ready.”

On the bright side, the developer will be extending the length of the time the action-RPG’s beta runs. The exact length of time that will be added to the open beta was not revealed. Anyone who currently has a Battle.net account that is linked to a Blizzard game can opt-in for a chance to receive an invite through their account management page.
