Hitman Absolution ‘Run For Your Life’ Playthrough

Silence please.

On Monday we were teased with a short trailer of Hitman Absolution.  Today we get a whole 16 minutes of game play to gander at; and I have to say, I like what I see.  It’s definitely not the typical Hitman play style that fans have become accustomed to over the year.  Actually, when parts of this video leaked in June, we did tease it a little on the Mashcast.  From looking at the video, Hitman Absolution definitely borrowed a few queues from Metal Gear, Splinter Cell, and I think I see a little Uncharted 2 in there too.

I’m not complaining about it.  From what I saw, it looks like they blended the elements well.  You’ll see stealth elements that include using lighting to your advantage, Nathan Drake (or Ezio) style object traversal, and cover & shooting mechanics.  Hitman fans shouldn’t worry because some of the better known mechanics of the series are still there.  Using traps to kill enemies, changing outfits, blending in, and escaping a scene are all present in this video.  At this point you’ve been reading for long enough, time to check out the video:

There used to be an embeded media player here, but it doesn't work anymore. We blame the Tumbeasts.

So what do you think?  Hitman improved for the better?  Or Hitman trying to be other games?  Let us know what you think in the comments below.
